Q85

Jamacia Queens natives Focus The Truth and Ayo Da Don journey through the borough with their album Q85, a classic Queens project with smooth jazzy sampled Boom Bap and heavy bars. As a child Focus and his brother Ayo would ride the Q85 bus from Jamacia to Green Acres Mall bumping classics from Queens hip-hop legends. The Q85 collaboration was inspired by that essence, that sound and era of hip-hop that gave birth to artists like Kool G Rap, Nas, Tragedy Khadafi, Mobb Deep and Pharoahe Monch. Q85 is a lyrical display of street justice and ghetto survival emceed by men with wisdom and experience. A couple talented Queens emcees with poetic disposition can lace just about anything, but nonetheless, there isn't a complaint to be made lyrical or sonically with Q85 - truly a well-crafted album from top to bottom.

Q85 is the story of some true thugs - in every way what you feed them as seeds, grows, and blows up in your face. This is that manifestation of a man who dedicates himself to his craft, his hustle and his culture. Focus The Truth's presence in the underground scene as of late has earned him the respect of his city and us here at Rebel Underground - Queens finest represent on Q85 to smooth your ride wherever life is taking you.
