Herb Barclay is a rapidly-emerging multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter,
and DJ working out of Germany who creates modern original
electronic music influenced by the old-school pop, dance, rasta, and hip-hop
of the 80s and 90s. Barclay combines vintage styles with 21st Century ideas into tracks that fearlessly blur genre lines and overflow with his personal creative vision. He is the leader of The Herb Barclay Project and the founder of his own indie label Herb Barclay Music. This business pairing allows Barclay the freedom to release his own music and to work with inspiring artists from
around the world.
He’s work been compared to The Black Eyed Peas, Fat Boy Slim, Daft Punk, Young MC and Tone-Loc but maintains a fierce originality in everything he does. In a world of imitators, Herb Barclay stands tall as as innovative talent with the power to change the scene around him.
Founded in 2018, the Herb Barclay Project has since produced in various retro and pop style genres of the 80s and 90s in a new, unique and contemporary style for the time being. The first release “Oh Baby” set the starting point here with a unique, melodic combination of Latino rhythms, various acoustic instruments, a haunting danceable beat and Rasta rap.
This is followed by more songs on this Personal Stylez EP, which can already be described as surprisingly fresh and new.
Here we present both melodic slow songs, as well as dance and pop songs alike with electronic innovation, numerous acoustic instruments, the retro idea and the typical for the Herb Barclay Project interaction of vocals, rap and Rasta.
