Watching the calm ocean, we see a distant boat; this boat is my soul, and glides upon the golden, sparkling sea, stopping at ports of call along the way, hiding from the storms deep inside. I climb down the rope ladder, surrounded by the sounds of wild jazz and I become intoxicated by the heat, perfume and colors of these exotic melodies. “Give me a kiss, in this mysterious blue night.”
As night descends, I am filled with expectancy and joy; the first streetlamp is lit, and we seek out a secluded café where I can enjoy a glass of wine. The soft light gently frames the silent lady sitting at the bar, her graceful form made more seductive. Music plays, shimmering drops of sound, like a lover’s caress; and these she sits, a cigarette in her hand, an elegant bird of prey, ready to attack. Her face, passionate and expressive, is framed by the saxophone’s falling melody.
Entering into a dream, he who has drifted with the wind finally tastes the sweet fruits of his wandering. Lifting a glass of wine, he sees the reflection of the snowcapped mountain top of Kilimanjaro; he draws on his cigarette, and thinks back to his trip to Walden Lake. In these 11 songs, you will hear stories about freedom and love, as we take an imaginary road trip down California’s famous Highway 1. The enchanting sunset before us, becomes as the tickle of champagne on our tongues, as we forget all of life’s regrets and incertitude.
