These Friends of Mine

In 2006, after years of releasing albums and touring constantly, Rosie Thomas went to New York to take a break, and spend some time with musician friends Sufjan Stevens and Denison Witmer. While together they very causally wrote and recorded music together in a Brooklyn Apartment with no intentions or pressures of what it would become - free of outside producers, labels, managers, etc... Just friends making music for their own joy and catharsis.
What came out of those sessions though was a collection of intimate, authentic, artistically pure, beautiful songs. Songs of love, loss, displacement, and earnest searching.
Standout tracks include Say Hello, Much Farther To Go, All The Way To New York City, Kite Song, and outstanding reframed covers of REM's The One I Love, and Fleetwood Mac's Songbird.
