Like This Before

London-based producer Muca announces Like This Before, a new collaboration with acclaimed singer Celeste Caramanna and legendary Brazilian Bossa Nova guitarist Roberto Menescal. This marks Muca’s second track with Menescal and the beginning of his most ambitious project yet—an entire album with Menescal and emerging global artists, aiming to refresh Bossa Nova for future generations.

Muca first teamed up with Menescal in 2021 for Until We Meet Again, featuring Alice SK. The track gained praise from Songwriting Magazine and Songlines Magazine, received BBC airplay, and surpassed 1 million streams. Now, Muca follows up with Like This Before, a modern yet authentic take on Bossa Nova.

The track blends Menescal’s iconic guitar style with Celeste’s rich, delicate vocals, demonstrating how a 60-year-old genre remains timeless. Muca flew to Rio to record with Menescal before selecting Celeste as the perfect vocalist. The choice was obvious—Muca first saw Celeste perform alongside Menescal at Pizza Express Live in London. Celeste later wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals in London.

Reflecting on the experience, Celeste says, “It’s simply amazing… Roberto Menescal is a piece of history, and I feel deep admiration and gratitude.” Muca adds, “Recording with Menescal was life-changing. It inspired me to invite him to make an album together—an idea he happily accepted.”
