What's It To You
“What’s it To You”是作者是自我觉醒的态度和宣言。 (Beethoven·Symphonies No.5 in C Minor)。
"What's it To You" is the author's attitude and declaration of self-awakening. Just as sociologist Charles Horton Cooley put forward the concept of "Looking-glass self", our self-awareness is largely built upon others' reactions and evaluations, much like observing ourselves through a mirror. And in Erikson's stages of psychosocial development, the main issue during adolescence, which ranges from 11 to 19 years old, is identity formation and role confusion. As for how to get through the "identity crisis" and find one's physical self, personality, potential roles, and career orientation, the author has provided answers through this song.
The author also sampled Beethoven's "Beethoven: Symphonies No.5 in C Minor", a work by a composer who had a similar attitude. After analyzing the music styles that would lead the trend in the future, the author decided to adopt Teen Pop + Kpop as the musical style for this song.
Once the theme was set, the creation of the beat began. The author incorporated the writing of classical orchestra, brass, and organ, along with the bass of house music, the drums of trap music, the use of synth timbres, and the arrangements of whistle and gospel choir, which made the beat full of interest. Then came the writing of lyrics and melody. This was also the first time the author attempted to collaborate with friends on rap writing. It was the first step in integrating the understanding of hit songs with personal ideas, as well as a brave step for the author to express herself outwardly.
